China named new Communist Party bosses in two provinces and one major city on Sunday, a day after picking a rising political star and economic reformer for the top party job in scandal-hit Shanghai.
Separate statements from the Communist Party of China’s Central Committee, released by the state-run Xinhua News Agency, said Zhao Leji had been named secretary of the Shaanxi provincial party committee, Zhang Gaoli was appointed secretary of the Tianjin Municipal party committee, and Zhao Hongzhu selected to be secretary of provincial party committee in booming southern Zhejiang.
Zhao Hongzhu replaces Xi Jinping, named Saturday as Communist Party boss of Shanghai, where his predecessor was ousted in a politically charged scandal. [Full text]
