China’s wind power generation capacity may top 5 mln kw next yr – report

China’s installed wind-power generation capacity is likely to top five mln kilowatts next year, two years ahead of what was envisaged in the national development plan, Xinhua news agency reported.

It cited an industry official Li Junfeng as saying that wind power is developing rapidly in China and that installed capacity would surely reach four mln kilowatts by the end of 2007. [Full text]
