The June 25 speech delivered by President Hu Jintao has been a hot topic over the past two weeks. According to the Xinhua news agency, the speech covered many areas. The keynote address “Four Insistences” called for liberation of thought, reforming and opening China, scientific development and building a generally prosperous nation. We think President Hu ‘s “Four Insistences” proposal offers something innovative, and that it was extremely meaningful to put “liberation of thought” at the beginning of his four insistences.
