As part of a BBC series on sustainable food, reporters “take a peek in the fridges of people in cities around the world and ask what motivates their food choices.” In today’s edition, we look at what Beijing heart surgeon Xie Jinsheng is eating. He explains:
We generally try to buy vegetables from local farmers because we think it’s safer. But a lot of these things we cannot tell for sure. We have to go by our taste-buds. If you eat it and you think it tastes authentic, like it was back when you were a kid, then maybe they haven’t used a lot of chemicals or pesticides to grow this product.
