At 10 am on March 3rd, five hours before the opening ceremony for China’s legislature’s annual session, about twenty petitioners from Hebei, Guangxi and other provinces gathered in front of the National Letter Petition Bureau at Majialou, Beijing.
Petitioners held their petitions, wearing their “petition clothes” and shouted “We have been wronged. We want to meet (state) representatives!” under a banner reading “Law, Equality, Democracy, Harmony, United to Clean Up Corruption.” The protest went on for about twenty minutes, then the petitioners dispersed before the police arrived.
