China Elections Blog translates Han Han’s recent blog post:
Han Han: To welcome you with wine and endless talk (把酒言欢 言无不尽)
I have had a few interviews, and I have realized that the foreign media and Chinese media are not the same. They might occasionally pose the same questions, and I provide the same answers, but the final content of the reports are very different. Relatively speaking, questions posed by foreign media are more direct; some questions are so direct that there is no way to respond, because if you respond once, then I reckon that in the future you will only be able to answer questions from foreign media. I just tell them very honestly: I can’t respond to you. It’s not that I don’t want to, it’s that I can’t. Answering this question would require paying too high of a price, and for the time being, it is an unnecessary price. But I am also unwilling to speak falsely, so I choose to keep my mouth shut. But you can keep asking these questions, as I think they are good questions. You just have to say, “The interviewee didn’t dare respond.”
Please, forgive my cowardice.
