Badiucao (巴丢草): Free Pu Zhiqiang

For his latest contribution, cartoonist Badiucao honors rights lawyer Pu Zhiqiang, who was criminally detained after attending a seminar marking the 25th anniversary of June 4th in Beijing. Several of the seminar participants have been detained or questioned, and journalist Gao Yu has not been heard from since late April. As a student, Pu was an active participant in the 1989 protest movement, and has written about his commitment to honor the anniversary of the June 4th military crackdown every year. In this drawing, Pu is using hand gestures which mean 64, shorthand for June 4th.
