Hundreds of workers demonstrated outside a factory producing Italian furniture in southern China, protesting the alleged severe beating of three employees demanding better severance payments, a Hong Kong newspaper reported Friday.

The workers gathered and chanted slogans on Thursday at the factory in Shenzhen owned by DeCoro, founded by Italian businessman Luca Ricci, the South China Morning Post reported.

A photo in the paper showed a large crowd of men squatting down in front of the factory, which the company’s Web site claims is the world’s biggest sofa factory. [Full Text]
