From The Straits Times (free sub required): “Mysterious mobs rallied in front of several Chinese embassies and consulates around the world last week but dispersed about an hour later, causing no work disruption, according to Chinese state media.

The incidents took place last Wednesday at about 11am local time in 12 cities across six countries. Chinese envoys in Japan, the United States, Canada and Britain said police were called in out of security concerns, Beijing News reported.

The Chinese representatives in South Korea and Australia refused to comment.

The identities of the mobs were not known, but an expert on flash mob was quoted as saying that these could be mischief makers called together by certain people.”
