Called it a cyberwar between the two states maybe an overstatement. But this editorial on the Korea Herald is making a serious point for their country’s computer network security.
“In its initial investigation, the National Intelligence Service said that an anonymous hacking group based in China broke into 211 computers at 10 government organizations, including the National Assembly, the Maritime Police Agency, the Agency for Defense Development and the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute. Also hit were 67 computers at private companies, universities and media firms.”
“As one of the most densely wired countries in the world, Korea is among the most vulnerable to the risks of cyber war. A thorough investigation is needed to disclose who invaded us and what information they wanted to steal. ”
