Another leaked diary, another disgraced official. The Telegraph reports on the head of a state-backed company in Anqing who used his diary to document his sexual shenanigans and corrupt lifestyle:
Almost all of the women were prostitutes, and in order to fund his proclivity, the official allegedly took huge bribes. “He was busy eight hours a day looking for bribes, and then another eight hours looking for sex,” one investigator told the local newspaper, the Xin’an Evening News.
In his earliest diary entries, which date from 2003, the official set himself the modest goal of bedding 56 women that year, stipulating that at least two of his trysts should be with “respectable” women, rather than sex workers.
In order to hit his initial goal, he speculated that he would need to collect 100,000 yuan (£9,610) in bribes, roughly five times his annual salary.
In subsequent years, as he became more senior, his appetite for bribes and women allegedly increased, until his wife, also a Communist Party official, turned him in.
Investigators found detailed accounts of his trysts both in the diary and on his home computer, where he even listed how much each woman had cost. As well as meeting women in hotel rooms and night clubs, the official had a private room with a hidden video camera where he would film himself in action.
