The Chinese Yearbook of Human Rights a is publication project co-sponsored by the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, the Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law, and three institutes under the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences – the Institute of Law, the Centre for Human Rights Studies and the Centre for International Law Studies. The purpose of the Yearbook is to create a forum for academic exchange between China and the international community in the field of human rights. Accordingly, the Yearbook aims to publish high quality academic articles written by scholars from both China and other countries on human rights issues. The Yearbook was first launched in June 2004. Starting with Volume III (2007), it will be published in two separate versions, English and Chinese, with the English version published by Brill Academic Publishers and the Chinese version published in China.
The Yearbook invites the submission of articles, comments, notes, introductions to recent developments (including projects and activities) and book reviews in the field of human rights. The Yearbook will be an inter-disciplinary publication. It will publish current research on human rights not only from the legal perspective, but also from the perspectives of philosophy, political science, history, sociology, international relations and so on.
Articles, comments and notes submitted to the Yearbook should be original, previously unpublished contributions. The manuscript of each article should include a summary of approximately 150 words describing the main arguments and conclusions of the article. Citations should follow a uniform system, appear in footnotes and be consecutively numbered. Details of the contributor’s institutional affiliation, full address and other contact information should be provided by the author. All manuscripts submitted should be typed, double-spaced and in duplicate, submitted with a diskette if possible. Authors are encouraged to send manuscripts via email to cyhr@cass.org.cn. All submissions will be examined by the Editorial Board of the Yearbook, consisting of both international and Chinese scholars, purely on the basis of their academic merits and quality.
Volume III of the Yearbook will be published in early 2007 and the deadline for submission to this volume is 30 June 2006. Submissions after that date will be considered for following volumes. The Editorial Board of the Yearbook greatly appreciates all submissions and will attempt to notify authors of acceptance or rejection as quickly as possible.
Faithfully yours,
