From AP, via The China Post: “A small band of entrepreneurs protesting the demolition of their shops scuffled with police Friday outside a meeting of Shanghai representatives to China’s parliament. It wasn’t clear whether anyone was arrested.
‘Injustice! Injustice!’ the group of about 10 women shouted, waving copies of business licenses for demolished shops as dozens of spectators voiced encouragement.
The protest took place across the street from the Shanghai Exhibition Center on Nanjing West Road, the site of expensive designer boutiques, where legislators were meeting in preparation for the annual meeting of China’s parliament in March.”
People protesting the demolition of homes and businesses to make way for new development have staged several protests this week.
