Yahoo! China focuses on searching Internet – Tschang Chi-chu

From Straits Times, via AsiaMedia:

The competition to become the No. 1 search engine in China heated up yesterday after Alibaba.com Corp relaunched Yahoo! China’s home page to focus mainly on searching the Internet.

Yahoo!, Beijing-based Baidu.com and Mountain View-based Google are all vying to become the dominant search engine for China’s 103 million Internet users.

Baidu currently holds the largest market share, accounting for 33.1 per cent of China’s 188.4 million daily searches, according to iResearch, a market research firm.
