BBS postings on U.S. war in Iraq – David Cowhig

China analyst David Cowhig sent the following into CDT:

A News.sina.com.cn BBS had a posting entitled “What you certainly won’t see on Chinese Central Television” showing US soldiers in friendly encounters with Iraqis and Iraqi children. A wide range of responses. Some of the responses were:

— It is good to see both the good and the bad,

— All along we have only been able to see what we have been supposed to see.

— America toppling the Iraqi government wasn’t necessarily a bad thing for Iraq,

— This posting is just propaganda for America

— Look during WWII the Japanese made posters with their soldiers playing with Chinese kids.

— These pictures are not realistic. If anyone in the crowd were to make an unfriendly move, the US soldiers would certainly mercilessly spray

their Iraqi “friends” with machine gun fire.
