The home entertainment arm of News Corp film studio Twentieth Century Fox will on Monday announce a distribution partnership with China’s biggest legitimate DVD producer, Zoke Culture Group.
The deal marks the first serious effort by Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment to sell its DVDs in China, a large and fast-growing market for western films but one dominated by providers of low-cost pirated discs.
Fox’s decision to work through Zoke signals a new willingness to adjust the high-price, slow-release model that it and other studios use to sell DVDs in major markets such as the US, Europe and Japan.[Full Text]
