Danwei.org, an English-language website that tracks Chinese media from inside the Mainland, concluded their Second Plenary Session last week. In attendance were two British and two Chinese journalists: Lindsey Hilsum of Channel 4 News, Jonathan Watts of The Guardian newspaper, Flypig, an editor at Sohu.com, and Raymond Zhou, movie critic, blogger and columnist.
The topic of the conference was: Is Western news coverage fair? How biased is Chinese news coverage? What effects are new media such as blogs having on TV news, newspapers and other traditional media?
The topic was set long before violence erupted in Tibet and some Chinese netizens began sharply criticizing western media for what they’ve deemed are biased reports of the riots in and around Tibet.
After the jump, you’ll find parts 2-6.
