Xinhua News reports that a man stabbed twenty-two children and a villager at a primary school in China’s Henan Province early Friday morning, according to local officials:
Local police said they had seized the suspect, a 36-year-old villager named Min Yingjun.
The attack happened at around 7:40 a.m. at the entrance of Chenpeng Village Primary School in Wenshu Township of Guangshan County in the city of Xinyang, a police officer said on condition of anonymity.
China is no stranger to acts of mass violence against children – In September, a man entered a childcare center in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and killed three children with an axe. Similar attacks occurred on the streets of Gongyi in Henan Province and at a childcare center for migrant workers in Shanghai in 2011.
