In Beijing, China there is a restaurant where customers are not allowed to use flashlights or glow-in-the-dark-accessories (I heard that!) inside. Besides the kitchen and bathroom area, thankfully, the whole restaurant is virtually pitch black. Yes, this is by design. And though I have recommended it to a couple of places in Guangzhou where the patrons eat in pajamas or the odd animals on display mournfully watch as you eat relatives I wasn’t taken seriously.
