Revolutionary films mocked – People’s Daily Online

From the People’s Daily Online via NetEase (link), translated by CDT:

At the opening of the 12th CCTV young singers competition, the organizers showed three funny video clips, two of which make fun of revolutionary films about Chinese war against Japanese invaders during 1930s. The editor of the clips, Hu Daoge, remade the voice-over of the characters as if they are talking about the singers competition in modern setting, using phrases such as “Three Represents,” “Eight Honors, Eight Shames,” “Super Girls,” etc.

Angered by CCTV’s tolerance of such derogative taste, Aug. 1 Film Factory, the state-run film studio that shot the revolutionary films decades ago, issued a statement condemning such actions of degrading “red classics.”
