This article is nine days old but it showed another perspective on the Google China News Service issue. The article was on China Economic Net, a online news site based inside of China.
“Recently, Google Inc., a search engine operator, launched its trial Chinese version of news with a low key; before that, it had launched Chinese byte versions in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan, and South Korea. With over 1,000 news resources, the China version also provided a function of latest news release. This is another new service targeting on the demands of localization users that Google Inc. launched following the “Browse By Name” service in the Chinese market.
It is understood that the searching result of Google news will be completely up to the computer arithmetic. As no people will participate in the selection or classification of big news and no one can decide the order of the arrangement of various news reports, occasionally there may appear some unintelligible articles that are far away from the point. At present, the China version of Google news is still in the testing phase; and prior to that, Google Inc. had launched the same news service in Japan, South Korea and Taiwan.”
