Rapid modernization has given rise to complex health problems in China and it is saddled not only with diseases that afflict developing states but those in advanced countries too, senior Chinese health officials said.
China was facing a double burden, Wang Ruotao(王若涛), a senior research fellow at the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention(中国疾病预防控制中心)said on Friday.
“It is facing not only serious infectious diseases that threaten developing countries but also those that exist in advanced countries, like cancer, heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure,” Wang said. [Full Text]
