Ma Vows to Restore Name and Status of Memorial Hall, If Elected – Hungfu Hsueh

Kuomintang presidential candidate Ma Ying-jeou (馬英九) promised his supporters yesterday that if he wins the presidential election next year he would use legal means to have the name of the Taiwan Democracy Memorial Hall changed back to the Chiang Kai-shek (蔣介石) Memorial Hall.”The site is governed by the CKS Memorial Hall Administration and Management

Regulations,” Ma noted. “The Democratic Progressive Party did not revise the law yet it went ahead and changed the name of the hall. In making the modifications, the DPP showed no respect for the hall’s status as a historical site, and its handling of the whole matter was undemocratic.
