Netizen Voices: Tactics of Deception and Trickery

Last October, Chinese media reported that pharmaceutical company America Citi Pharmacy Co. Ltd.’s was using their suggestive name in a fraudulent ad campaign—the Chinese and English names used by the company were very similar to those of American multinational company Citigroup, and their ads hinted their product’s came from the U.S. After CCTV ran an investigative feature [zh] warning their audience of the scam, Weibo user @日天小巨人 had this to say:

@日天小巨人: Tonight’s episode of CCTV’s  Jiaodian Fangtan (Topics in Focus) reported that a Chinese person used the banner of U.S. Citigroup to market Chinese health products as panaceas. Tactics of deception and trickery were used to sell the products to the elderly at exorbitant prices. The program anchor warned the audience to be vigilant of such scams. I know of a group of Chinese who use the banner of Western liberal democracy to market Chinese dynastic authoritarianism as the best form of governance. They use the same tactics to pedal their ideas to the Chinese at a hefty price. Who will deal with this?
