From the BBC:
On February 1, 2005, King Gyanendra of Nepal dissolved his country’s multi-party government, suspended civil liberties, and assumed complete power, facing international criticism and sanctions. In the midst of the recent controversy, Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing has gone on an official visit to Nepal to “enhance and promote mutual friendship” between the two countries. China proclaims King Gyanendra’s actions as an “internal matter,” and has not protested his recent crackdown.
