A spokesman for China’s official Catholic church, the Chinese Patriotic Catholic Association, and the Chinese Catholic Bishop’s College said the Vatican’s decision to announce the invitations “shows no respect” to Chinese Catholics and their decision-making bodies, said a report published Saturday by the Xinhua news agency.
