Taiwan worries about opposition’s upcoming talks with China – DPA

From Deutsche Presse-Agentur, via M&C News (link):

Taiwan Sunday expressed concern over a high-level meeting between the island’s former opposition leader Lien Chan and Chinese President Hu Jintao in Beijing on April 16, saying it could mean a crisis for the island.

‘It will be a second talk between Lien Chan and Hu Jintao, and after their talks next week, Hu Jintao will meet US President George W Bush. We can’t help but worry about such a development as it could mean a crisis for Taiwan,’ said Vice President Annette Lu.

Lien, then KMT leader, met Hu last April during a historic visit that helped ease cross-strait tension and reconciliation between the Nationalists and their long-time arch rival the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
