Chinese Blogs to be Registered with Real Names

Chinese bloggers will be asked to register their blogs with their real names and ID numbers, said 21st Century Business Herald, a Chinese newspaper. A similar real registration regulation on cell phone users will be released within this year, another Chinese newspaper reported earlier.

The Ministry of Information Industry has asked the Policies and Resources Committee of the Internet Society of China (中国互联网协会) to conduct research on legal and practical issues.

The Committee on Aug. 2 organized a “Blog Research Team,” which is composed of people from 13 Internet companies and 5 Internet and legal experts. The Internet companies involved are among China’s largest, such as people.com.cn (‰∫∫Ê∞ëÁΩë), qianlong.com (ÂçÉÈæôÁΩë), sina.com (Êñ∞ʵ™), sohu.com (ÊêúÁãê), and neteast.com (ÁΩëÊòì).
