It’s been learned from Yunnan’s provincial work safety teleconference on Oct. 9 that the southwest province is imposing mandatory training for coal mine owners, managers and relevant workers to reduce mining fatalities. The convened training is required at least once or twice a year. The province will also crack down on subcontracting of coal mines. And mines with at least three deaths for one accident will be shut down.
In the National Day holiday, nine and four miners were killed, respectively, in two accidents at Shunxing mine in Fuyuan County and Xiaoping #2 mine in Mile County.
In this round of cracking down, Yunnan plans to close 230 pairs of mine shafts and consolidate mining resources. An examination team of more than a thousand regulators and technicians will be specially working on the safety check around the province. [Full Text in Chinese]
