China reveals new national strategy to export culture, media and creative industries – Chris Gill

From Inter-Fax (link):

As Typhoon Pearl hit the southern Chinese coast your Interfax correspondent was attending the “Wenbohui” – China’s new big mass media event. Held in the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) of Shenzhen, the Wenbohui — the English language name is more of a mouthful: “The Second China Shenzhen International Cultural Industry Fair” — has set itself up as the main media expo event for China’s entire media and creative industries.

Representatives from all spheres of media — from cartoons to publishing, from dance groups to digital TV equipment makers, and from fine artists to the more staid and traditional print media — attended in abundance.
