China is set to invite North Korean leader Kim Jong Il to Beijing to mend soured ties and prevent further provocations by its communist ally, a news report said Sunday, amid fears the North might test a nuclear bomb.
China is expected to extend its official invitation to the North Korean leader through its new ambassador who is scheduled to arrive in Pyongyang, the North’s capital, this week, Yonhap news agency said, citing unidentified diplomatic sources in Seoul and Beijing. [Full text]
